Welcome to another edition of Three Things Thursday
Join the community if you are new here.
As you can imagine this week has mostly been about building my Performative Speaking course. I’m lucky to have people offering help and guidance along the way. This will most definitely be a course that I owe many people a debt of gratitude for all of their help. Performative Speaking is my idea, but it takes a whole lot more people to achieve what I have planned. Good things are coming.
To begin with, I have been doing a lot of thinking about Twitter recently. I continue to have people asking for my thoughts on how to grow on Twitter and what type of approach they should be taking. I’m always happy to help and discussing this topic has helped me think about how I want to use Twitter.
With that in mind, I have gone all-in on trying to create a real community of people who want to connect on a real level. This means direct messages and zoom calls. One day this will include in-person meetings. I have no doubt that this is the best way to use Twitter. The people I have had the luck to meet have been incredibly smart, creative, and selfless.
I feel fortunate to have the chance to connect with these people from across the globe. I have had zoom calls with people in Tokyo, Canada, and all over the United States. I’ve talked to people with 200 followers and 15,000 followers on Twitter. I don’t care about follower count, I care about the person. I get to talk to people who are leaders in their fields and are willing to give me help throughout my journey. I get to talk to people who can use my help in their journey. Each call leaves me energized, motivated, and full of hope for the future.
I’m calling it now. This group of people using Twitter in this way will be the leaders in 5-10 years. It’s about community and building something meaningful. That’s how I’m using Twitter.
Now for Three Things
I filmed a short teaser video for Performative Speaking. This was done with no script, no prep, and no edits. I turned the camera on and had 1 take to do this. I think the beauty of Performative Speaking is that its truly possible to create on the fly as well as a more prepared speech. The broad range of situations that the system applies to creates opportunities in every aspect of life. That’s why I created the teaser video. Make it simple, but significant.

This is an older article from my website but it’s worth highlighting again. The newsletter has grown tremendously over the past few weeks and I’m excited to share this article with those of you who are new.
I discussed above how I did that video in 1 take to show what is possible. This article shows the other end of the spectrum. I spent weeks preparing for this closing argument and I don’t even want to know how many hours I poured into crafting that speech. It took everything I had in me but that was necessary because the stakes were sky-high. Literally a man’s life at stake. A heavy burden but one that I remember fondly because of the result achieved.
The lesson from that trial. Practice and Preparation.

Finally today I leave you with two articles that caught my attention this week. The first is on how to use Imposter Syndrome to your advantage. The second is talking all about creating Family Culture.
First, go check out The Imposter’s Advantage. You won’t be disappointed and you can immediately use this to change your mindset. Zain has worked at Microsoft, Google, and Stripe. It’s a great read.
Second, go check out Creating Your Own Family Culture. My prediction for Charlie… an NYTimes Bestseller in her future. Charlie always has thought-provoking and vulnerable articles.
Thanks for reading and see yall next week for another Three Things Thursday!
