Welcome to another Three Things Thursday

This week I joined the Roam cult. Well, except I’m pretty clueless so I can’t say I went full cult member yet. I did start keeping notes in the program and am looking to build more fluency with the program. A big shoutout to Brandon Toner who finally gave me the push to jump on in.
As a result, I’m taking Nat Eliason’s Roam course while I take Tiago Forte’s Building a Second Brain Course. I’m excited to learn from them and see what is capable when it comes to storing notes, ideas, and building out projects. For most of my life, I have been able to store all of the information in my only brain but I am reaching its limits. I want to free up space to allow my brain to focus on creativity. More and more these days I identify as a creator. I love it when I’m creating. I love watching others create. I love creating things that will help others create.
This week I put out a quick Origin Story video for Performative Speaking. If you’re interested in joining the waitlist for the October 19 launch date before the class fills up (spots are limited for cohort 1) go sign up at Performative Speaking.
Here is the video I put out. Take a look.
Now for Three Things
My article this week looks at a domestic violence case I lost as a prosecutor. As the title may suggest, I lost the case but won in the bigger picture. I published this one today and hope you enjoy it. It’s mostly a story but you will find the lessons as you read. I believe that stories should play around with structure and create emotion. That’s what I did in this article. I will tell you, this trial forever changed me as a person.

I believe the best way to get there is with other people and building a community. Every week when I send this newsletter out, I’m thankful to be building with all of yall. The mountaintop is ready for each of us. Craig Burgess who is behind Producemore believes the same thing and is building a community on twitter he calls True Fans. With Craig building True Fans and Jamie Russo building Goodnote, I’ve never felt more confident in where we are all going.
I put something out like this the other day when I said: When we help others, we help ourselves.
Build community. Work together. Get to the mountaintop. The view is a lot better when we can share it with others.
“The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.” Dumbledore
This week I want to highlight an article from Brandon Zhang on going from a manager’s schedule to a maker’s schedule. Go take a read and see which one speaks more to you. I know that I want the Maker’s schedule. That’s what calls to me. That’s who I am.
See yall next week
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or just want to talk…reply back to me. I love hearing from you.
